Process overdue items

Turn an overdue pile into a short conversation about what still matters, what can move, and what can leave your list.

What the card means

When BrightMind finds overdue tasks in a connected task app, Home can show a card with the number it found. The card is an invitation to sort through the backlog, not a warning that you failed.

If the number ends in a plus sign, such as 10+, BrightMind found at least that many and stopped counting for the summary. You can still work through the rest in the conversation.

Start processing the list

  • Open the Home tab.
  • Find the overdue card near the top of the day.
  • Tap Process overdue items.
  • Review the prepared message, change it if you want, then send.

BrightMind opens a draft that says how many overdue tasks it found and asks for help reviewing, clearing, and replanning them. Nothing is sent when you tap the card. You can edit the draft or close it first.

Decide what happens to each task

You do not need to clean the whole backlog in one pass. Ask BrightMind to help you sort by decision:

  • Do it now: keep one small, useful task in front of you and ask for help starting it.
  • Move it: choose a realistic date instead of carrying yesterday forward forever.
  • Mark it complete: clear work you already finished but forgot to check off.
  • Remove it: let go of a task that no longer matters.
  • Leave it for later: stop after a few decisions and continue in the same conversation another time.

You can also ask for a narrower pass, such as “show me only the five quickest tasks” or “help me replan the work tasks first.”

Where changes go

Your connected task app remains the source of truth. When BrightMind completes or replans a task, the change is made through that connection and appears in the source app too. Pull down on Home to refresh if the card or timeline has not caught up yet.

The conversation stays in the Conversations tab, so you can return to the same cleanup session without starting over.

If you do not see the overdue card

  • Pull down on Home to refresh.
  • Check that Todoist, TickTick, or your task provider is connected in Settings.
  • Open the task app and confirm the tasks are actually overdue, not undated.
  • Check whether the tasks are already completed or belong to another connected account.

No card can also mean there is nothing overdue. Home will keep showing the rest of your day normally.
