Save your first task

One complete first run, from a messy thought to a task you can find again. You do not need to connect another task app.

What you need

  • The BrightMind app on your iPhone or Android phone.
  • Nothing else. BrightMind starts with its own built-in tasks, so there is no Todoist, TickTick, or Google account to set up first.

Save the task

  1. Open a conversation in BrightMind.
  2. Type: “Add a task to water the plants tomorrow at 6 pm.”
  3. Check BrightMind’s reply and open the saved task it mentions. Make sure the title, day, and time are right.
  4. Open Home and look at tomorrow to find the task in your day.

That is the whole loop: say it, check it, find it. Once it feels natural, you can do the same with a whole brain dump at once.

Try saying

  • “Add a task to water the plants tomorrow at 6 pm.” Saves a task with a day and a time.
  • “I need to clean my room but I don’t know where to start. Help me choose one small step.” Breaks a big task into steps, and you can save the step you pick.
  • “Remind me to call the dentist on Friday.” Saves a task with a day, and a reminder can be set on it.

Where did it go?

If you are using BrightMind’s built-in tasks, the task stays in BrightMind. You will find it on Home on the day you set, and in the conversation itself as a task you can tap.

If you selected a connected task manager in Settings, check that app too: the task is saved there. Some connected apps store different details; for example, Google Tasks cannot save a time through this connection.

Need to change it?

Say “Move the plant-watering task to 7 pm tomorrow,” then check the updated details. You can also open the task on Home and edit it there. Deleted built-in tasks sit in trash for 30 days.

Can't find it?

Work through these in order:

  1. Check the day you asked for. “Tomorrow” means the day after today, so look at that date on Home.
  2. Check which task manager is active in Settings. If you switched recently, older tasks stay where they were saved.
  3. Reopen the conversation where you asked. If BrightMind reported an error, the task may not have been saved; try again.
  4. If you use a connected app, search for the task there.
