Google Tasks

Once Google Tasks is connected, BrightMind reads your task lists and works with them the way you would: it captures what you say into the right list, tells you what’s due, and checks things off when you say they’re done. Everything it writes shows up in Google Tasks straight away, on the web, in Gmail, and in the mobile app.

Open the app, go to Settings → Task management, and tap Connect Google Tasks. Sign in with the Google account you want to use and grant BrightMind access to your tasks. You’re connected as soon as the sign-in completes.

Google Tasks connects one account at a time. If you also use Todoist or TickTick you can keep them connected, and the one you pick in Settings → Task management is the one BrightMind writes to.

• Add tasks to any of your lists, with notes and a due date.
• Tell you what’s due today, tomorrow, or in a date range you name.
• Rename tasks, edit notes, and move due dates.
• Complete and delete tasks, and add subtasks under an existing one.
• Create new task lists.

Anything destructive, like deleting a task, goes through a confirmation step in the conversation before it touches your account.

These are limits of the Google Tasks API itself, not of BrightMind, so they apply to any app that connects to it. Worth knowing before you make it your main list:

• No time of day. Google Tasks stores a due dateonly, and discards any time you attach to it. If you ask for something at 9:00, BrightMind will tell you it can’t save the time and offer to put it on Google Calendar instead, or save it as an all-day task for that date.
• No priorities, labels, or tags. There is nowhere to put them, so ranking lives in your conversation with the assistant rather than on the task.
• No recurring tasks.Repeats created in Google’s own apps appear as separate one-off tasks.
• Subtasks nest one level deep. A subtask cannot have its own subtasks.

If you want times, reminders, priorities, or repeats, connect Google Calendar alongside it, or use Todoist or TickTick as your task manager instead.

BrightMind requests Google’s tasksscope so it can read and write the tasks on the account you connect. It is the only Google Tasks permission that allows writing, and BrightMind has to write in order to add and complete tasks for you. We don’t use the data for ads, we don’t sell it, and no human at BrightMind reads your task content except for support or abuse investigation.

Connecting Google Tasks does not give BrightMind access to your calendar, and connecting Google Calendar does not give it access to your tasks. Each is authorized separately, and you can disconnect either at any time from Settings, which revokes the tokens immediately on our side.
